Look for My Coming on the Third Day

I'm back, and you're all doomed.

I am also doomed, but that isn't really important at the moment. Let me start by crowing and thumping my chest. I've finally managed to get back into writing code and I'm disgustingly proud to report that even after 10 years, I haven't lost my touch. Yes, I know that I was only a first-year student then, but the fact that I haven't lost my skills after a goddamn decade is no small thing. I spent fully an hour giggling at my own hands after compiling, imagining all the awesome, horrible things I was empowered to accomplish. They spoke to me, eloquently, compellingly. My hands sound a lot James Earl Jones.

That established, I'm pleased to report that my trek through the institutions of higher learning is proceeding apace. I should be finished with my lower division and transfer courses in about another year, then I'm off to UCSD for the B.S. Beautiful campus, wonderful programs and the fact that its right on the coast (which reduces my chances for frequent heat-induced vertigo episodes) are an irresistible combination. The one real down-side to the place is that commuting is a first-class, grade-A, Number One G.I. bugger.

In other news, I was given the opportunity to attend Comic Con 2012. My brother's S.O. was attending on a gimp-pass and was, thus, entitled to an "attendant". So, under the auspices of playing good Samaritan, I got to spend the entire day roaming the convention, meeting the stars of geekdom and being introduced to dimensions and degrees of nerdiness I previously was ignorant of. Was it awesome? Was it excellent? Well, I've already slated several hundred dollars to the cause of getting tickets for 2013 when they go on sale in January. Going to need several days, I expect; I'm planning to get a great many things signed. Particularly, I've become a fan of Locke & Key.

All that said, I suppose I ought to move on, get back into the arena that originally brought me to the internet back in '09. Honestly though, I'm not entirely certain I want to speak on the current campaigns. Frankly, everything I see coming from the Romney camp is, frankly, poisonous and I really don't want to be pegged as having drunk the Obama Kool-Aid. I'm pretty sure I cleared that charge back when I was still on the highway, when I decided to dip a toe into the Land of the Leftarded and realized that Mike Malloy was the liberal analog of Limbaugh...but the internet is a funny place and it seems like our societal memory is just getting shorter as we go.

So...here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to walk away from the keyboard tonight, catch up on all the convention material I missed, do some reading and research and then, Monday, I will return to share enlightenment with you all once again. Until, tcha.
